Makiala-Mandanda et al. (J Clin Microbiol. 2017) have shown 16.7% of hepatitis A Virus, 24.6% of hepatitis B Virus, 2.3% of hepatitis C Virus and 10.4% of hepatitis E Virus in suspected cases of yellow fever in the Democratic Republic of Congo. The sociocultural factors, asymptomatic infections and lack of diagnosis could contribute to this high rate of transmission of hepatitis.

La chose la plus importante est le manque d'instruction sociale, manque d'une campagne qui explique comment on peut prendre l'hépatite et comment il faut faire pour se protéger. Il faudra porter attention, dans le cas de l'hépatite B, à ne pas boire dans la même bouteille qu'un ami, embrasser, partager la même brosse à dents, etc. Plus important il faut obliger la population à passer des test de diagnostique, pour prévenir et surtout soigner la maladie.

Hpeatitis E Virusa is endemic in the Western Cape Province of South Africa with a seroprevalence of 27.9% with no significant differences between ethnic groups or HIV status. Seroprevalence in children is low but rapidly increases in early adulthood. Further, in adults of 30 years and older, pork and bacon/ham consumption suggested risk. Hepatitis E is thought to be zoonotic in origin and occurs in swine populations in South Africa, albeit at very low levels.

Bien que n'étant pas spécialiste de la question, je crois que le problème est la cherté du coût de la vaccination contre l'hépatite. Vivement que les autorités compétentes subventionnent la vaccination afin de permettre aux couches les plus défavorisées d'y accéder.
